The Dardalis Archives of Hellenic Diaspora contains a variety of material related to the Greeks of Australia.
It was established in 1997 at the former National Centre for Hellenic Studies and Research, La Trobe University. The main benefactor to the Centre was the Greek-Australian businessman, Zisis Dardalis. The Centre closed in 2008 and all the material housed at NCHSR was packed in boxes and stored away. In March 2013, La Trobe University Library undertook to assess and list the material that was stored on 76 pallets and thousands of archive boxes, plus 80 linear meters of bound newspapers, newsreels, films, art objects, photographs and other assorted materials. The collection covers a wide variety of subjects related to Greek Australian migration, history, religion and culture. The newspaper collection is a good starting point for any researcher as it covers different views of important historical, political and cultural events affecting the Hellenic people. [Details]
